Welcome to the website of YMAA Belgium

YMAA Belgium is a branch of Yang's Martial Arts Association, an international organization founded by renowned master and author Yang Jwing-Ming for the purpose of preserving traditional Chinese martial arts and qigong (chi kung) training. YMAA Belgium offers classes, seminars, and private instruction in the following areas:

  • Changquan and Baihequan Gongfu (Long Fist and White Crane Kung Fu)
  • Yang Style Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan)
  • Taiji Tui Shou (Pushing Hands)
  • Qin Na (Chin Na), or joint locks
  • Qigong (Chi Kung), working with your breathing and internal energy

Erik Elsemans has been studying with Master Yang since 1996 and has been appointed by him as his representative in Belgium. From 1997 to 2007 Erik went to the United States nineteen times, each time for a month and a half, to study personally with Master Yang. He has also followed dozens of seminars with Master Yang, often assisting him in teaching, in Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, France, Portugal and the United States. He is recognized by Master Yang as a 'YMAA Coach Instructor'.

YMAA offers an exceptionally extensive, complete and in-depth program for traditional taijiquan and kung fu. You can confine yourself to certain aspects of this program (e.g., practice taiji only as an exercise for health, well-being and relaxation), but if you're looking for more, we can always offer you more, both in terms of quality and quantity.

Another strength of YMAA is that you can follow a grading or ranking system (mandatory for kung fu but not for taijiquan). This system is very well defined and structured, which will allow you to progress along a clearly marked path.
